Influenced by extensive life drawing and an interest in portraiture, my images seek to tell more about my subjects than may at first meet the eye.

Moving to the edge of Exmoor and the Brendon Hills, the West Somerset Railway and the glorious landscape on the doorstep, had been an ambition for several years. In 2016 we achieved this and found a perfect location to pursue our passions for photography and ceramics. The area has a very long tradition of both ceramics and photography. Alfred J Pool was a pioneer of documentary photography and worked in the parish until his death in 1956. We have several prints from his collection on display.

We will be offering short courses for those wishing to improve their photography and learn image retouching. We will also be offering ceramics and pottery courses here at Ashbrook Studio, but details of this will be on another website.

My background has been as a designer working in the advertising and marketing industry with plenty of experience in the peripheral industries and crafts that feed it. I’ll be offering much of this experience to those who are tempted by our courses.

Rest assured, it will be approachable and not daunting. We ran a weekly ceramics course at Reading College for many years that catered for beginners to those with plenty of experience and it was very popular.
